ANNUAL APPEAL

 

Dear Lakeside Residents and Neighbors,

 

            Summer in Harbor Country is always delightful. We are lucky to have our parks and beaches to enjoy and organizations that help bring people together for friendship and worthy causes. The Lakeside Association is proud to be among those organizations and to work for you in pursuit of our mission: Building Community for Lakeside and Our Neighbors.

 

            We are in the middle of our season of summer events - both traditional and new activities. The much-anticipated road work scheduled for Lakeside streets (Lakeside Road, Pier Street, East Road) and Red Arrow Highway has played havoc with our plans. 

 

            Our annual Memorial Day Ceremony and July 4th Celebration were held as usual with record turnout for the parade. But with uncertainty of the start date for these road projects, we had to cancel History Day and the Ice Cream Social. This year we addedother activities to the calendar: QiGong sessions (a practice of breathing and slow movement to improve vitality) are being held every other Sunday in the Native Tree Park (see website calendar). Join neighbors for the new annual family-friendly Mingle & Munch event at the Lakeside Inn, September 22. Watch for details.

 

            The Lakeside Association awarded our usual scholarships to River Valley High School graduates. Thanks to the generosity of the community, we have revamped the amount dedicated to this important cause. You should be proud to know that your donations have helped RVHS seniors start the next chapter of their lives.

 

            The Lakeside Association is a volunteer organization, fueled by donations. With the cancellation of the Ice Cream Social, and the always much appreciated cake auction - an important fundraising event, we look for your generosity in this annual appeal. Your financial support allows us to continue efforts to fulfill our mission. We strive to:
